You have have heard of Dr. Alexander Elder's book, 'Come into my trading room', the classic trading book in which Dr. Elder explains how he trades personally. A trading room is basically a place where a professional trader teaches by example how they approach the market, including their method of technical analysis, money management and trading psychology.

What is a 'live' trading room?

A 'live' trading room is a connection using the internet to the professional traders trading room. You are able to see 'live' the traders screen and hear the trader explain the market and any trades that are entered or exited.

Do I need to be in the same country as the trading room?

You can be anywhere in the world that has an internet connection. For example a trading room based in Australia has traders connecting from as far away as Greece and Japan. Obviously it is easier if you are in a time zone that doesn't mean you have to get up in the middle of the night to join the room.

What can I see on my screen?

Once you have connected to the professional traders screen, you will see exactly what is on the teachers screen. For example you will see the charts they are using shown with their usual charting package.

What is involved in setting up a connection?

Usually the connection setup is quick and easy. You may need to download a small piece of software.

What are the other benefits of a trading room?

Traders can communicate and ask questions with the mentor and other traders in the trading room. Traders can ask the mentor for feedback on their own trading strategies or ask the mentor to analyse a particular stock or currency in real time to confirm their own understandings or conclusions. A sense of community can develop as the group gets to know each other and regulars share their progress.
